Take a guided walk and discover the history of Markfield; use the village trail leaflet to gain an overview of the village from your armchair, or get out and about with a self-guided walk; and take a look at the information board at the car park on Main St.
Guided Village Walk
The guided village walk takes place each summer, usually during the Festival of Archaeology. Whether you are new to the village or have lived here for many years, it is a great opportunity to learn more about the history of the places which we see every day.
Walks can also be arranged for groups by request, please message us via the Contact Us page.
This picture was taken at the start of the guided walk in July 2024.
Self-Guided Village Trail (published 2013)
Some 39 points of interest are included in the village trail booklet, with explanations of their historical significance.
It is a great way to quickly pick up some history at home, or to embark on a self-guided walk.
If you would like a copy, please leave a message via the Contact Us page.
