A look back at History Group meetings in 2023

Updated: Dec 10, 2023

The Markfield local history group planned an interesting line up of speakers and topics for 2023. First off, we heard about criminals of yesteryear and the meanings of place names. In July, some 20 people risked the rain showers and joined the walk around the village and up and over the former Hill Hole quarry. In September, an audience of some 30 locals enjoyed a talk about nearby Nanpantan Hall and its walled garden. Our final meeting was in November, when we learnt about researching our family history, led by Vannessa Morgan.

We were pleased to welcome many new people, and hope to see them again in 2024.
